As most of you know — or can at least tell — I don’t eat beef all that often, but when I do, I’m usually making a burger bowl. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good hamburger bun, but when I’m trying to incorporate more nutrients into my meal, I like to eat my burger over greens.
Lately, I’ve been doing smash-burger-style bowls with cheddar, grilled onions, and a simple “Thousand Island-Ish” sauce that I drizzle on top. The other day when I made Grant and myself these bowls, I added in some sauerkraut and pickles, and I knew I was never going to look back.
Not only did these ingredients add some amazing flavor and texture to the bowl, but they also help contribute to your gut health! Sauerkraut and pickles are both fermented, which means they are probiotic foods and a great source of good gut bacteria.
These burger bowls are easy to make and are ready in under 30 minutes, making them a great weeknight dinner!
